Paul Madden - Portumna - Galway East Election Candidate

Lessons Will Be Learned

We live in a country where children are being taken off treatment lists without being informed; where children have to campaign for their own autism services yet at the same time, we are able to squander billions of taxpayers money without a care in the world.

The old reliable "Get out of Jail Free" card is that lessons will be learned. No matter how big a fiasco, a government member can pull this card from their back pocket, wave it in front of the media and that's it, no more questions to be asked. "Lessons will be learned" - by who and when?

As covered in a recent post, here are some of the known areas where public funds have been squandered by this government.

Remember, these are the ones we know about and there doesn’t seem to be a rush from anyone other than independent journalists to uncover more.

The reality is the government have taken their eye off the ball – they are so focused on woke nonsense like introducing anit-democratic Hate Speech laws, trying to erase motherhood from the constitution and being the lapdogs of Europe that they’ve forgotten to get the most basic things right. To make matters worse for the last number of weeks – instead of working – they are out canvassing to save their hides, trying to buy an election, the date of  which remains a privileged secret.

Asylum Profiteering - Another lesson to be learned?

Dublin Bay South Candidate Nick Delehanty is worth a follow on X. Nick seems determined to actual lessons will be learned and has uncovered a whole warren of interesting material on political connections with those benefiting from the waves of asylum facilities being created in Ireland. What interest is being served?

Separately, it seems someone is trying to impede journalist Ken Foxe from getting access to more information relating to Budget 2025 with ridiculous FOI fees in place as likely deterrent to a journalist trying to serve the public interest. Maybe a lesson someone is trying to avoid? Keep an eye on the work of Nick and Ken, both have been quite productive in holding this government to account.
